Onyx on Honduran Mahogany
This sculpture is homage to the ancient Greek’s love of idolizing goddesses. It is also homage to the beautiful patina’s that arises out of nature when Greek Bronzes were sunk to the bottom of the Aegean and lay there for two centuries. These sculptures, when lifted off the floor of the sea, contained incredibly interesting surface color’s and textures that could only have been made by nature. In this case the beauty of Baja Onyx interestingly emulates these surfaces.
