King Conch

King Conch

This large piece of Japanese honeycombed alabaster lay in our stone yard for a couple of years, I must have walked by it hundreds of times until one day I looked down and saw the sculpture hidden in the stone. I took it over to my bench, punched a hole through the center, saved the beautiful rough texture, filed it down and it was done. The stone is translucent where cut thin and glows like a jar of honey when the light strikes it just right.
